The Churchill Lady Bulldogs won their 3rd game of the young 2023-2024 season with a hard fought 49-40 over a very tough Blair squad on Wednesday night. Defense led the way as always for the Dawgs with Ruby Siegal and Hannah Corkery providing noteworthy performances. Elise Huang led the Dawgs with 19 points, including a pretty, clutch 3-pointer with time winding down.

The Churchill Bulldogs dropped their 2nd game of the season vs QO 37-29, despite a game effort and a mounting list of injuries. Despite a strong defensive effort that resulted in 11 steals and 25 turnovers, cold shooting kept the Dawgs behind most of the contest. Ruby Siegal led Churchill with team high 10 pts and 7 Rebounds.

The JV team stepped up (as dictated by the County, due to Varsity not having enough healthy/uninjured players to field a team) and did their best against an undefeated Whitman team.
W 32-29 AWAY Thu, Jan 4, 7:15pm @ Poolesville
The Lady Bulldogs returned to County play with a 32-29 victory over Poolesville. Elise Huang led the way with 11 pts, while Ruby Siegal and Sydney Ashton chipped in with 7. Ashton broke open a tie game with a late three pointer and Maggie King sealed the win with a key rebound in the waning seconds.

The Lady Dawgs put up a strong effort against a highly regarded BCC squad pushing the Barons until the final seconds before falling 54-48. Elise Huang led the Bulldogs with 24 pts, 4 assists and 4 steals. Ruby Siegal contributed 9 pts and 3 assists while Mena Hemphill posted a double-double with 11 pts and 11 rebounds. Sydney Ashton led the team with 6 steals.

Churchill Girls Basketball returned to action with a strong 59-19 win over Northwest. The Dawgs had 27 steals and forced 43 turnovers. Elise Huang led the team with 26 points and 8 steals, and Ruby Siegal added 17 points and 4 steals. Mena Hemphill had 6 points, 4 assists and a game high 9 rebounds while Makayla Risso finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds.

Churchill Girls Basketball won their second game in as many nights with a 45-24 win over Magruder. The team had 12 steals and forced 29 turnovers. The team had a good shooting night hitting 40% of their 3-pointers and 70% of their foul shots. Elise Huang led all scorers with 23 points. Mena Hemphill had 8 points and team high 4 steals. Ruby Siegal had a team high 3 assists while also garnering 3 steals.
W 48-30 HOME Fri, Jan 26, 7:15pm vs Gaithersburg Teacher Appreciation Night
The Churchill Girls Basketball won their third game in a row with a 48-30 win over Gaithersburg. The team shot 81% from the charity stripe and forced 21 turnovers. Elise Huang led all scorers with 20points; Mena Hemphill had 8 and Maggie King chipped in 6. Mena had a team high 8 rebounds followed by Ruby Siegal with 6. Ruby and Elise both had a team high 4 steals. The team heads into their second consecutive 3-game week starting with a trip to Richard Montgomery on Monday night.

The Girls basketball put forth a strong effort but fell to BCC Tuesday night in Bethesda by a score of 56-41. Elise Huang had an amazing night posting a career high 30 points and a team high 5 rebounds. Ruby Siegal was all over the court posting 7 points and adding team highs with 5 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks. The Bulldogs will celebrate senior night and take on Walter Johnson on Friday night.

The Churchill Girls Basketball team rallied for a 47-42 Senior Night win over WJ, avenging an earlier season lopsided defeat. Lone senior Elise Huang had team high 20 points and 3 assists. Ruby Siegal had a team high 11 rebounds and 3 assists to go with her 5 points. Sydney Ashton chipped in 7 points and a team high 3 steals. Mena Hemphill owned the paint falling just short of a triple double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, a career high 8 blocks and 3 steals.

The Churchill Girls Basketball team started the playoffs with an impressive 52-32 win at QO. The Dawgs dominated the boards with 42 rebounds and sank nine 3-pointers. Mena Hemphill had 20 points and 15 Rebounds, while Sydney Ashton poured in 16. Ruby Siegal and Elise Huang had great all around games. Ruby had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, while Elise had 8 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Maggie King added 9 big rebounds. Great team effort – the playoffs continue Friday night at BCC.
